Carolina joined SMA Tourism in 2019 to develop a nature tourism plan and investment plan for Narino, Colombia, and is based in Colombia. She has solid experience in the design and implementation of policies, plans and the development of projects to promote sustainable tourism in protected areas generating benefits for local communities simultaneously utilising personal skills of stakeholder coordination.

Carolina’s Undergraduate Thesis focused on design criteria for load capacity & direct the planning of ecotourism activities in the Amacayacú National Park and its area of influence; Amazonas – Colombia.

She has 12 years’ experience with the National Natural Parks of Colombia (PNN) Bogota, Colombia, coordinating ecotourism planning and development. As a consultant for ARD Inc. she provided support for ecotourism projects and developed community bird watching areas across many protected areas. Working for the National Natural Parks of Colombia (PNN), she strengthened private and community conservation initiatives for Nature Reserves.

Carolina speaks Spanish (native language) and fluent English.
